About Me
I grew up between Portugal and Germany, speaking three languages natively. I started out writing protocol gateways for power grid systems in C and C++, which is how I ended up comfortable optimizing ML pipelines at the CUDA kernel level.
A research stint in bioimage analysis at the University of Algarve got me into ML. I went from segmenting microscopy images of animal cells to a Master's in AI at the University of Freiburg. I've done projects with the AutoML lab there (scaling down TabPFN, building architecture-agnostic optimizers), and what I learn feeds into the production systems I build for clients.
I've done systems programming, industrial protocols, and deep learning research. I use all of it when I build AI for production.
